Writing with AI

Article about AI
I recently read an article in Education Week newsletter. The article was entitled: Brain Activity Is Lower for Writers Who Use AI. What That Means for Students and written by Sarah Schwartz who is a staff writer at Education Week.
Studies
Researchers created a study by asking 54 student in different groups to write three essays. The students were prompted to use quesitons from the SAT college entrance examination.
3 Writing Groups
Group 1: Study participants utilized Open AI’s GPT-40 and they wanted some assistance
Goup 2: Study participants were able to search the internet and websites. However, they could not use another language AI model or ChatGPT.
Group 3: Study participants “brain only” did not use any research tools. They only used their brain and writing skills.
Writing Results
I found the researchers’ writing results fascinating. I also found the teachers’ different perspectives enlightening.
