Purr-fect Pals
“Purr-fect Pals”
Welcome to the Purr-fect Pals Page, a resource dedicated to making a “connection” with families dealing with the “highs” and “lows” of diabetes management. As the mother of a son with Type 1 Diabetes, I am committed to increasing community awareness and education about diabetes.
The Diabetes Connection offers information about the Purr-fect Pals: A Kid, A Cat & Diabetes book, personal insights, stories, information, and the opportunity for you to connect with those who share many of the same experiences.
In 1985, our eldest son, Joshua, was diagnosed with T1D (Type 1 diabetes) when he was fifteen years old. I have first-hand knowledge and experience with the many challenges diabetes creates. My father (of blessed memory) developed T2D (Type 2 diabetes) when he was sixty-five years old. Even our family cat,”Luke Skywalker”, developed T1D (Type 1 diabetes) when he was thirteen years old and lived to be eighteen. As you can see, I have some personal history on the subject!
If you or a loved one live with this chronic disease, you know the numerous challenges you and your family face—the tough decisions, the stressful issues and countless health care challenges. I’ve discovered significant ways to find comfort through my family’s history with diabetes. I continually learn as much as I can about the disease, return the guidance and encouragement I was offered.
I am passionate about my goal to help children and their families understand and manage the “highs and lows” of diabetes by reading my books.
Purr-fect Pals: A Kid, A Cat & Diabetes is a unique and engaging children’s picture, activity, and coloring book and resource guide written and designed to offer comfort, education, and encouragement to youngsters and their families who live with the never-ending challenges of T1D and T2D.
