Ben Hebebrand, Head of School at Quest Academy suggested I read the book. I had presented a What Color Is Your Brain? Faculty In-Service for the Quest staff a year ago and Ben thought I would enjoy the connection between MINDSET and my Brain Color Theory.
MINDSET was instructive and exciting look at the different Brain Color personalities from Dr. Dweck’s Mindset perspective. The in-depth research with her students at Stanford University and other school, insightful outcomes, personal and anecdotal stories about business leaders at IBM, GE and General Motors, and sports celebrities such, as Michael Jordan, Jackie Joyner-Keresee and Mia Hamm were most educational and entertaining!
Dr. Dweck is the Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology at Stanford University and an internationally recognized expert in motivation and personal psychology. Simply stated, her Mindset theory poses the idea: If you have a Growth Mindset you are aware that you can develop your attributes and abilities to be successful in life. If you have a Fixed Mindset you think that your talents and character traits do not change and you are not capable of changing who you or your motivation to experience success.
I wanted to share this information with my all my blog readers, so I wrote Dr. Dweck and asked, “May I have permission to write a “positive” post about your book on my blog?”
Her gracious Blue Brain reply was: “Dear Sheila, Thanks for your lovely email. I would be delighted to have you write a blog about Mindset! Warm regards, Carol Dweck.”
I would encourage you to read MINDSET and I plan on reading Dr. Dweck ‘s other books.
