Why is your perspective about thankfulness and gratitude different than other people’s? Read the Poem!
At this time of year, Americans take time to focus on what they are thankful and grateful for as we prepare and celebrate our National Thanksgiving Holiday. Germany, Japan, Canada, Grenada, Liberia, the Netherlands, and the Norfolk Islands are 7 countries that also enjoy a Thanksgiving celebration.
As different cultures and countries celebrate Thanksgiving, each Brain Color also uniquely demonstrate their thankfulness and gratitude. Below are examples of what each of the Brain Colors is thankful and grateful for:
Yellow Brainers are thankful and grateful for the security they feel in their lives.
Blue Brainers are thankful and grateful for their loving relationships in their lives.
Green Brainers are thankful and grateful for their problem solving skills they use in their life.
Orange Brainers are thankful and grateful for the freedom they enjoy in their lives.
My Blue Brain is naturally thankful and grateful for all the personal and professional blessings in my life. This Thanksgiving, I am grateful and thankful for my husband, children, grandchildren, family members, friends, clients, and professional opportunities. However, this year I am most grateful and thankful that I only broken leg leg! After 4.5 months my broken leg is now my "Healing Leg" because of the loving and devoted care my husband gave me (day and night) and the expert care my doctors gave me!
A few years ago, my yoga instructor, Errin Hughs, shared a Blue Brain Inspirational anonymous poem entitled, Be Thankful. I asked Erinn to share the poem with me, and I am delighted to share it with you. I have a copy of Be Thankful on the mirror in our bathroom, where I can view it each morning when I begin my day and in the evening at the end of my day. I am sure many of you can relate to my feelings of metaphorically rollerblading at high speed through the day. This lovely poem is a speed bump that reminds me to slow down and remember to Be Thankful!
I hope you will find Be Thankful as affirming and inspirational as I do.
Be Thankful
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something,
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes;
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.
Please share Be Thankful with your family members, co-workers, and friends and/or at your Thanksgiving Celebration!
Enjoy the Blessing of Thanksgiving!
