September 11, 2001 and Colonel (R) Jill Willig Chambers

Today, is the 13th Anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks and tragedies. May we all remember and never forget those who lost their lives, the families who continue to grieve the loss of their loved ones, and the emotional and physical scars that remain of for so many adults and children.

Today, I also thought about my dear friend, Colonel (R) Jill Willig Chambers, who was in the Pentagon on 9-11 and lost many of her colleagues and friends during the terrorist attack.

Jill retired after 28 years of service in the United States Army. When Jill realized the she suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She searched for help and then discovered ways to help herself and other veterans and their families.  Jill and her talented husband, Michael Peterson, a country western star, song writer, singer, and musician, created This Able Vet , which is an organization to positively change “The Story” about Veterans with disabilities by encouraging and equipping Veterans to apply the fullness of their strengths and abilities in the civilian arena. They accomplish this assistance via their public platforms, connections, and a growing understanding of the resources available through Integrative Medicine.

Jill and Michael also participate in VWise Conferences, which are committed to women Veterans by providing them the tools to become successful entrepreneurs.

I am honored that Jill is my friend and so proud that she will be will be inducted into the Army Women’s Hall of Fame in March 2015.
