National Diabetes Awareness Month, Book for Children with Diabetes, and Children Advocates’ Brain Colors

I have emerged from the depths of my writing for National Diabetes Awareness Month. You might be wondering why now. The answer is simple. My Yellow Brain writing goal was to complete the manuscript for Purr-fect Pals: A Kid, A Cat & Diabetes by November 1st. I am thrilled to say that I met my deadline! Stayed tuned… more news about Purr-fect Pals in the next few days!

In between book editing, I had the pleasure of preparing and  privilege of presenting a What Color Is Your “Advocate” Brain?® Program on October 23rd for 40 dedicated professionals who attended the Safe from the Start Advocates quarterly meeting. The Safe from the Start Program, which is an early intervention program designed to prevent exposure to violence in children age 0-5, and reduce the impact for those children who have already been exposed. Safe from the Start is part of the Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County in Hoffman Estates, Illinois that provides a safe place for children to tell their abuse story ONE TIME to a team of people dedicated to helping each child heal and changing the child abuse system!

Today, my  Yellow Brain completed the printout of the advocate’s program comments. I will be sending back the printout to each attendee as resource to reinforce the Brain Color Concepts and implement their colleague’s Brain Color ideas in their workplaces and homes. The following are some of the advocates’ Yellow, Blue, Green, and Orange Brain comments:

  • Being nice to my boss who is GREEN!
  • Be Gentle and Caring about others’ Praiseworthy Gifts.
  • Respect others’ views and how they work.
  • I loved Sheila’s question: “Is this a Healthy Decision for me?” and implementing it!
  • Discourage tolerance and Encourage Acceptance.
  • Being more cognizant of others’ learning and emotional styles.
  • Putting time limits on those who like to “share” their issues
  • Everyone is not always the Brain Color they appear to be!

My Yellow Brain is planning to spend the next few days preparing to launch Purr-fect Pals: A Kid, A Cat & Diabetes.

Got to scoot and get back to my Yellow Brain Check List.
