How to Solve the Mystery of Writing a Book?
I find it fascinating that so many people are eager to know how an author writes a book. On Sunday, I enjoyed attending Laurie Buchanan’s exciting outdoor book signing event for her splendid new book, The Business of Being: Soul Purpose In and Out of the Workplace. Several attendees asked Laurie questions about how her writing process.
People seem to be curious about an author’s writing process for various reason. Below are just a few:
1. They want to write a book.
2. They are thinking about writing a book.
3. They don’t know how to begin writing a book.
4. The began writing a book, but stopped.
5. Someone else wants them to write a book.
6. They are just curious about the process.
When I am asked, I begin by explaining that my writing process involves Yellow Brain Planning, Blue Brain Creativity, Green Brain Research, and Orange Brain Determination. I utilized the same process for writing all my books, for my reviewing and revising my manuscript , and then revising the manuscript after my editor edits the manuscript and sends it back to me to review and revise, again. This process may be repeated several times, until the manuscript is ready to be printed. This process takes patience and an open-mind.
This blog post is timely because I am immersed in another round of reviewing and revising my latest book, No Bunk, Just BS (Business Sense): Timely and Timeless Truths Business School Cannot Teach You!. By the end of August I will have completed several rounds of reviewing and revising the manuscript with my editor Lauren Biddle Plummer.
Now the answer, most writers will agree with, of how to solve the mystery of writing your book. It is not complicated, nor does it require great skill. It is surprisingly simple…
You put your tushy, also known as your buttock, fanny, bottom, derriere, gluteus maximus, or posterior in a chair, begin writing, and schedule specific time to keep you tushy in the chair to revise and complete your book!
It’s no mystery. My tushy is in my chair and now I must conclude this post and get back to my No Bunk, Just BS (Business Sense) revisions.
The No Bunk, Just BS (Business Sense) publication date is scheduled for September.
