How I Discovered A Precious Treasure!

Searching for a document

Last week, I was searching for a document that I thought was in a folder in my Princess Shayna files in my office. When I looked in the file drawer, I did not find the document. Instead, I found a multitude of folders filled with “Thank you” notes and letters. It was precious treasure!

Who wrote the notes?

The notes were from students and teachers who thanked me for visiting their classroom and sharing my family fairy tale with them. Some were for Author Visits and others were from semester long Enrighment Programs. The earliest notes were from 1997. It was a grand trip down memory lane.

What did the notes say?

The children’s notes express their how meaningful the story was because it taught them them kindness, understanding, appreciation for others, their attributes and abilities from the Brain Color Village they lived it, and “The How To Treat Others Principles” (how to deal with bull behavior). The teachers expressed their gratitude because the book was a helpful and joyful addition to their curriculum.

Timeless and Timely Messages

Now, almost 28 years after Princess Shayna was published in 1997, the messages throughout the book remain timeless and timely. The lessons of understanding and respect for others is even more relevant today, than it was years ago!
