Fun and Creative Thank You Cards

My “Yellow Brain” still believes in the old fashion “Emily Post” etiquette of writing  “Thank You” notes.

Before, I was married my mother ordered a copper embossing plate designed with my SNA monogram. It was used to personalize the fine Crane stationery note cards that we purchased at Marshal Field’s to acknowledge birthday, Bat Mitzvah, Chanukah and graduation gifts. I loved the lining of the envelopes that matched the color of my monogram.

I can remember how excited I was to returned to the Marshall Field’s stationary section and order a new copper plate with my SG monogram for my bridal shower and wedding gift “Thank You” notes.

Through the year, I have also enjoyed sending unconventional note cards. While studying at the University of Iowa Summer Writing Festival, I loved visiting the Prairie Lights Bookstore, in the Iowa City mall. There I discovered many unusual cards and post cards, besides the incredible selection of books.

Since, my favorite movie is the Wizard OZ, I was delighted when I found a boxed set post cards with illustrations from the book All Things Oz. I also purchased books of post cards entitled  “Women Writers” and “Gal Pals” from Pomegranate Art Books.

If you do not like writing notes, these creative post cards can make the task more enjoyable.
To quote  Mary Poppins, “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun and ‘snap’, the job’s a game.”

Thank you!
