The tradition of the New Year’s Resolutions can be traced back to 153 B.C. Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the calendar. With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future. Janus became the ancient symbol for resolutions and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies and also exchanged gifts before the beginning of each year.

We are now two weeks into 2021. Some of us we have been keeping our New Year’s Resolutions and others have not. I have found it to be easier to keep New Year’s resolutions if I understand my decision making process.
The following Brain Color Clues will help you understand what actions positively or negatively influence your ability to accomplish your resolutions and/or help others fulfill theirs.
Yellow Brainers: Execute a plan in a timely manner, consider their finances and do not procrastinate.
Blue Brainers: Go with their gut, consider how their ideas affect others, but money is not an issue.
Green Brainers: Research information, calculate risks and outcomes and evaluate financial ramifications.
Orange Brainers: Improvise solutions, have an “If you’ve got the money, use it” attitude, and ignore fear.
Facts about Keeping Resolutions
Each year 40% to 45% of the adults in America make one or more New Year’s Resolutions. Most of the resolutions relate to more exercise, handing money better, losing weight, staying on a diet, or ending unhealthy behavior or habits (smoking). If people purposeful commit to their resolutions they are 10 times more likely to keep their resolutions and reach their goals.
