An Excellent Leader Improves People’s Lives
This Truth is entitled The Man of Real Excellence. Please rember that these story were written in the 1960’s, when leadership postitions were filled by men. Today, it woud be entitled The Man or Woman of Real Excellence. As we observe the changes of leadership in the United States and around the world the following story could be applied as a model for Excellent Leadership.
Subsitute Proun and Noun
Please feel free to subsitute the pronoun “he” for a pronoun you are comfortable with, and the noun “man” with “woman”.
The Man of Real Excellence
The man whose sole pursuit is Profit and Advantage can be ruined by a bad harvest.
But a man whose sole pursuit is Excellence cannot be confused by bad times.
These are the 5 ways in which a man of real Excellence improves other people:
1. Some he transforms like rain in season.
2. Others he perfects excellence that already exists.
3. Others he brings success to innate capacity.
4. Others he provides answers to questions.
5. Others derive benefit in their own way.
To act without knowing why; to do things as they have always been done, without asking why; to engage in an activity all one’s life without really understanding what it is about and how it relates to other things—this is to be one of the crowd, not a man of Excellence.
Closing Thought
This adivise may be over 60+ years old. However, it still rings true today!
