DIABETES SCHOLARS FOUNDATION FUND RAISER

I promised Mary Podjasek, President of the Diabetes Scholars Foundation, that I would post her message about the extraordinary opportunities she and her organization are offering college students and their families.

“We were very fortunate to get funding again this year for our college scholarships.
For the 2009/2010 school year we were able to award twenty $5,000
college scholarships to incoming freshmen with Type 1 diabetes.
It was  a very difficult process this year.
We received 650 applications from 49 states plus Washington DC.
Some of the schools our recipients are attending include Harvard,
Stanford (2), Northwestern, University of Chicago, Duke and Dartmouth.

These are just incredible kids.We are also able to bring 19 families and
9 young adults to the Children with Diabetes conference this July.

I am planning a fund raiser for August 29th.

The money raised will help us continue to carry out our mission.  I will be hosting a
bowling and silent auction at Brunswick Zone in Deer Park.  I have lots of fantastic auction items which include golf at Inverness Country Club, trips, sporting event tickets, theater tickets and much more.”

The registration for DSF fund raiser is available at www.diabetesscholars.org.
