Be Inspired… Believe “It Can Be Done!”

Today, I want to share one of my favorite poems, which our Girls Summer Camp Direct, Miss Minnie A. Cohen, often read to the campers during our Mac-Do Lodge awards campfires, on Sunday evenings.

This poem has inspired me, my family members, friends, and clients for many years. Recently, this poem resonated with my husband and me, as he worked on a development project.  My Blue Brain Created his PowerPoint sides, and my Green Technical Brain assisted during his presentations to the community planing commission and village board.

However, my husband’s partners’ Yellow Brains were nervous and pessimistic. My husband’s Orange Brain remained confident and optimistic about the process and the project because his Green Brain had gathered all the precise facts to support the project and resolve future problems. Our Orange Brains were delighted when the project was approved and we are looking forward to the Yellow Brain official written village ordinance for the project.

The thought of “It Can Be Done” also is the title of my antique poetry book It Can Be Done: Poems of Inspiration, which is anthology of poems that was published in 1921. In the prelude to the poem the book’s editor wrote: … “so can you achieve any purpose whatsoever it you heed no the doubters, meet each problem as it arises, and keep ever with you the assurance It Can Be Done.”

IT COULDN’T BE DONE by Edgar A. Guest
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
that “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he tried.
So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin
On his face. If  he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it”;
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of a his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

There are thousand to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it!

After something is accomplished people will say, “that was easy”. However, before something is accomplished people will say, “That is impossible!”

Remember IT CAN BE DONE!!
