Purr-fect Pals: A Kid, A Cat & Diabetes

100% of the proceeds from the sale of Purr-fect Pal  is donated to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).

Chicago, IL Two mothers who live with the never-ending challenges of diabetes have partnered up to help the millions of Americans afflicted with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. The result is Purr-fect Pals: A Kid, A Cat & Diabetes.

Purr-fect Pals: A Kid, A Cat & Diabetes is a picture, activity, and resource book written and designed to offer comfort, education, and encouragement to children AND their families who live with the “highs” and “lows” of Type 1 (T1D) and Type 2 Diabetes (T2D).

Relating to the Characters: Through the characters’ perspective, readers learn detailed information about T1D and T2D through medication, education, diet, and exercise Purr-fect Pals assist children’s understanding about diabetes.

Interactive Sections: An interactive Readers’ and Listeners’ Guide accompanies the story and offers readers time to share and voice their feelings and perceptions about diabetes. The Q&A format allows both children and adults to dialog and process the storyline for clarity and application in their lives.

The Kids’ Encouraging Messages written by children and adults from 8 to 88-years old who live with diabetes and the Comfort Companion Stories an anecdotal anthology for parents and caregivers are designed to provide knowledge, reassurance, humor and encouragement.

Word Games: Fun, reflection, and reinforcement for children of all ages.

All time and talents donated: The author, Sheila N. Glazov, and illustrator, Rosario Carrillo have donated all writing time and illustrations to “Purr-fect Pals.” As parents of children with diabetes, they are passionate about helping others. The publicist, Martin Oleksy, of Flying Minds and the editor, Jennifer Cahill, have also donated all efforts.
