Welcome to the Diabetes Connection, a resource dedicated to making a "connection" with families dealing with the "highs" and "lows" of diabetes management. I have first-hand knowledge and experience with the many challenges diabetes creates. My father (of blessed memory) developed Type II diabetes when he was sixty-five years old. In 1985, my eldest son, Joshua, was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when he was fifteen years old. (Even our family cat, Luke Skywalker, developed Type I diabetes when he was thirteen years old and lived to be eighteen!) As you can see, I have some personal history on the subject!

If you or a loved one live with this chronic disease, you know the numerous challenges you and your family face—the tough decisions, the stressful issues, the countless "highs" and "lows." I've discovered significant ways to find comfort through my family's history with diabetes.
